Buddy Clark Hall of Fame Sports Banquet

Top Row: Lisa Blozis, Jack, Shawn Clark, Mike Fallers, Joe
Bottom Row: Pat Buchanan, Dick, Sue Dunning

1967 Delaware State High School Basketball Champs

Although not greatly attended by Green Knights, the Hall of Fame Banquet was none the less a lovely event. As anticipated, Dick Buchanan, Joe Dunning, Jack Blozis, Rick Taylor, Steve Kelly, Chris Karas, Victor, Clark Collins, Andy Berger, Paul Sietz, Michael Fallers and Dick Mitchell ( both from the class of “68”) all were in attendance. These guys had not been together as a group, since we graduated. You could just feel their connection as they chastised one another from the outset of the evening. Kelly and Victor complaining that only Joe and Chris got to shoot the ball. Joe, laughing as he found a picture of Jack with both feet off the ground at the same time……. Shawn Clark, one of Buddy’s daughter’s brought a box full of old pictures for the guys to split up. There were twelve inductees, so the program was pretty long. Another one of Buddy’s daughters got up and spoke about her father before introducing Joe, who read an article penned by Steve Kelly.

Warning!!!!!! Get your handkerchiefs out…..

Ted Wilson, Dave Cowgill, Janet Venable, Nancy Rowell with husband Mark and I were the only other classmates in attendance.

Few of us had the chance to see all of the Londergan Ladies in one place at one time.  I did when they gathered together last month to celebrate Kathy's birthday.

They were shining stars of MPHS graduating classes for years.  Amazing ladies... every one.  All different.  All phenomenal.  What a fantastic, fun family!

MaryLou   .   Betty   .   Kathy  .  Susan  .   Bonnie

Still crossing paths...

"To everything there is a season.."  pete seeger

Looks like for us..  "it's the 60s again, kid!"   We were lucky to have crossed paths as kids.  It is a joy to find a path that crosses again.  Have a great birthday celebration this year.  And know, I for one, have thought of you, wish you well, remember dreams, and hope I get to cross your path someday soon to catch up on your newest dreams.

Apres Ski

Our gathering in Breckenridge was much fun!  We have John's journal and photos on the website.

We need to gather plans for 2011.  The world will forever be standing on the verge of the next great crisis.  It would be unworthy of us not to contribute to an economic momentum.

Give some thought to moving in mass.  Any ideas??

Wednesday Breckenridge

On Wednesday John Viva Carole skied Breckenridge Peak 9.  They had a great day, again with very light traffic from visitors.  It is noticeably uncrowded for this time of year.  The temperatures are very chilly, teens thus far, but will warm for them the rest of the weekend.

The ice carving competition left a fantastic display in town.  We walk down last night to see the sculptures and also to imbibe a creation designed by Ted Wilson.  The Crown in Breckenridge is more of a dessert-coffee house.  But with their collection of liqueurs, they followed Ted's recipe.  Scroll down.  We have it on line for you.  "Green Fuzzy on the Rockies".  Correctly named.  Very creative and lots of fun.

I hope your Superbowl weekend is GREAT!  We are thinking of you.

MPHS Colorado Ski Gathering 09

We are visiting in Breckenridge Colorado.  Viva is lodging us all.  John Kalmer and Carole Hanna Deardorff drove from Denver through tough snow storm on Monday morning but soon as they climbed above the clouds, the roads cleared and the mountains were waiting.  Viva and I and Carole enjoyed the trails John Kalmer navigated for us in Vail.  He has been skiing the Vail mountains since 1978.  Although he belonged on slopes far more challenging than those he had for us, he certainly had his hands full keeping us out of trouble.

We had a great day on Tuesday.  The snow that impeded our drive on Monday created a fantastic powder blanket for us on ski on Tuesday.  The sun shined long enough for us to warm. The trees were frosted top to bottom and glistened in the sunlight.  Absolutely beautiful.  NONE OF US HAD CAMERAS.  (We will try to fix that Wednesday).

Invitation from Class of 66

Hey Folks,
I just received a note from Bruce Hotmer. He is making one of his many trips east next week and is trying to arrange a 6:00pm get together at Stanley's on Faulk Rd, on Tuesday the 18th. Kathy, Diane and I went to one last February and it was fun. If you're in the neighborhood, stop on by.

I apologize to you all.  Evidently I overwhelmed my Outlook email system when trying to send out my newly changed address.  Unfortunately many of you will receive the notice a second time.  For that I truly apologize…….but it’s been nice to hear from many of you, so I guess it was worth it.

Breckenridge here we come!

Viva,
Carol and I made reservations for the January trip so the “Die is Cast”. Tickets from Philadelphia to Denver, on Southwest, were $219 roundtrip…..Yippie!! We haven’t yet decided whether to rent a car or just take Colorado Mt. Express to Breckenridge but we’ll figure that out as we get closer to the date.
Our plan is to come out a day early, Monday the 26th, in order to help with anything that you might need to get ready. We can go out and do some shopping or whatever else is necessary. As well, Carol will need to go to Vail to pick up her ski equipment and clothing that she stores at a friends house which she could do Monday afternoon or Tuesday morning. Depending on when people are coming, we might be able to make that Vail trip into a half day of skiing. I too, could pick up skis in Vail or just bring a second pair from home. Barb, if that sounds good to you, you might want to think about coming out a day early as well.
Thinking snow from now!

Breckenridge Update

Greetings Lads and Lasses,

I just wanted to post an update to our Jan/Feb ski plans. to date the response has been on the quiet side, but several of the hard core folks have expressed an interest. Right now, Viva and Velia, Barbara Hall and myself are definites. Stubbs is a definite maybe, as long as other non skiers come for him to entertain and feed and Carol Hanna and Bob Seaman are also in the maybe category............Carol just needs some more arm twisting and Bob just has to make sure that no one needs his services in TV and Movie land. I feel certain that they will find a way to make it work. Hope to see some more names on this list by the 20th of October, so we can line up our accommodation package.

Regards to all,

jk
